Richard Franklin was born in New Jersey, to parents who moved North from Georgia during the Great Migration of African Americans. Currently a nomad, Franklin spent 20 years living in Georgia, and his work is greatly influenced by the richness of culture found all along the east coast. He is inspired by the beauty of life and the American landscape in all its variety.
Franklin received a degree in Fine Art from Kutztown University in 1988. He served as the Director of the art nonprofit Amos Art Academy from 2006 to 2015. His work has spanned varying media, including sculpture, woodworking, photography, and ceramics, but he currently is focused on painting as his primary discipline.
Richard, a multi award winning artist, has been traveling the country for the last four years showing and selling his work in the unique style he has coined, Expressive Perspectivism.
His work is designed to bring joy and make you smile.
